Cindy5/15/08 The saddness continues at DawnDee tonight we lost one of our oldest champions, Ch The Pines Mitey Rascal, passed away, he was great fun to show, he always gave us 150% in the ring, and this beautiful, boy was a joy to have around, his favorite thing was to jump up in Darrells lap and talk to him, when he was showing he would talk to the judges on the table, several times the judges would back away thinking rascal was growling at them, once I told the judges he was just talking they would pet him and go on with their judgeing, we lost another wonderful gentleman, We knew that the time would come that our older dogs would begin to leave us, and I guess the time has come.
5/4/08 We woke up this morning to great saddness, Our Grand old Gentleman, the Foundation to our Yorkies, 'T Huttenest Master Divet, or as everyone knew him Divet, passed away in his sleep last night at the age of 14, Divet came to DawnDee in a different way he was not a dog that we would have bought as a puppy. I had just met his breeder and gotten to know him, when he took me into his puppy room and showed me a singleton puppy, I started to laugh saying he was one of the ugliest puppies I have ever seen, his breeder Mark Verhaeghe told me to just watch he was going to be beautiful, of course I did not believe him that this 5 wk old pup would ever grow up to be a beautiful dog. About a week or two later, Mark called me and told me that he had a puppy that the mother was finished nursing but the puppy wouldn't eat and could I try and save the puppie, I told him of course and to bring me the puppy, In came Divet. I knew who it was immediately because he resembled a fruit bat, Divet Thrived under my husbands care and attention, and became a loving member of our household, He indeed did turn into the Beautiful dog that Mark had said he would be. Divet was co-owned by us and Mark for many years. then Mark signed him over to full ownership to us in the late 1990's. Divet was a prolific sire, he was always a gentleman to the end, We will miss him as will anyone who ever met this very small 3 lb gentleman. He was even a gentleman in death, he showed no signs of going the only sign we noticed of course was old age, but last night for the first time since he was a puppy he did not eat his dinner, He wanted to save us the pain of Euthanasia and he went quietly in his sleep. thank you Divet for being the Grand Old Gentleman to the end. We will always love you and Treasure our many years together. Sleep well my dear and loving friend.
4/28/08 We just returned from attending the Papillon National show in Frederick Md, where we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, Thank you Maps for hosting such a wonderful show, We were awarded with 2 dams of Merit certificates for Ch DawnDee's Mirror Image, and Ch The Pines Shadow of a Dove, except for a jealous exhibitor who decided to Boo during the presentation of our awards, and showed their typical bad sportsmanship, it was a wonderful experience. And even the jealous exhibitor could not ruin our pride and happiness someday maybe their breeding program will produce as nice and correct dogs as DawnDee and their partners have been able to produce..
